Whiskey Jugs

A few more pieces are finished for Kiln to Table on August 10.

These stoneware jugs began as original drawings before moving into the computer, where I digitally compose each image much the same way artists have worked in Photoshop for years. Once printed as ceramic decals, they’re applied to the pots and refired, allowing the imagery to become part of the surface rather than simply sitting on top of it.

This has been an exciting body of work to develop because it brings together hand drawing, digital composition, and ceramics in a way that feels true to my practice. Every firing teaches me something new.

This collection will be on display during Kiln to Table, hosted by my son, Chef James McClelland, at Domek in Eugene on August 10. I’m looking forward to sharing both the work and the story behind it.
